PRADA Moon Bag: Spring-Summer 2023 Collection

The PRADA Spring-Summer 2023 collection introduces the Moon Bag, a re-edition of the iconic Moon Bag originally released in the Spring-Summer 2002 collection. This revival maintains signature design elements including the hobo crescent shape, belt buckle closure, and leather corner reinforcements. The new version features vibrant mango green padded lambskin, bringing back the iconic aesthetic of the millennium era.

Design Inspiration

The Moon Bag debuted in the PRADA Spring-Summer 2023 collection, designed by co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons. It faithfully recreates the archival Moon Bag from Spring-Summer 2002.

The bag retains the hobo crescent silhouette, with PRADA’s signature nautical-inspired metal rings connecting the arched double handles. The most distinctive feature is the central belt buckle running vertically – the new version adds the iconic enamel triangle logo with improved craftsmanship. Details like leather-reinforced corners maintain the vintage appeal.

The new version features a detachable leather keychain charm as an accent piece, with silver-embossed “PRADA Re-Edition 2002” lettering on the leather, marking its status as a reissued design.

Belt Buckle Closure

The abundant metal hardware brings the Moon Bag back to the maximalist aesthetic of the millennium era. Made from silver-finished brass, the pieces feature polished surfaces that create flowing silver highlights.

The most prominent feature is the central belt buckle closure – a wide leather strap runs vertically from the back to the front of the bag, adorned with bold metal eyelets and classic buckle elements, threaded through a slender loop strap.

The pointed cut at the end of the belt complements the iconic triangular enamel logo. The intricate buckle details make opening the bag more ceremonial – release the magnetic clasp, gently pull out the buckle, and the bag opens.

Padded Lambskin

To give the Moon Bag a more relaxed, contemporary feel, it’s crafted from soft padded lambskin, creating a plush, pillow-like effect with natural sheen on the raised leather surface.

The designers chose vibrant candy colors for the Moon Bag’s new look. Besides mango green, options include geranium pink, mango yellow, sky blue and other cheerful hues, giving the classic design youthful energy. The edge paint matches the body color, showcasing meticulous craftsmanship.

Handles & Shoulder Strap

The Moon Bag features sturdy arched double handles, with a rivet on one side to secure both handles.

The leather shoulder strap is detachable and adjustable, measuring 100cm long. The bag works for hand-carry or cross-body wear, always exuding youthful charm.

What Fits Inside?

The interior is lined with the same mango green lambskin, with a delicate texture that’s gentle on contents. The zippered flat pocket features a rectangular logo plaque – silver lettering against green enamel coating.

Measuring 16×7.5×22.5cm, the bag easily fits a smartphone. We also included a coin purse, perfume, lipstick, mirror and other essentials – perfect for a day out with friends.
