LV Trail Messenger Bag: Pharrell Williams’ Debut Design

The LV Trail Messenger Bag made its debut during Pharrell Williams’ first show as Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Creative Director. Featuring the innovative Damoflage pixelated camo check pattern on coated canvas, this classic messenger silhouette combines military-green leather trim, quick-release “cat paw” buckles, and studded logo tags for a perfect blend of urban edge and outdoor adventure.

The LV Men’s Spring-Summer 2024 collection marked Pharrell Williams’ debut as Creative Director, with the standout “Damoflage” pattern stealing the show. This innovative design merges the classic Damier check with pixelated camo, infusing the heritage motif with American streetwear vibes. Pharrell himself took his final bow wearing a Damoflage-print suit.

The Damier check was originally created by Louis Vuitton and Georges Vuitton in 1888 – the same year the Eiffel Tower was built. The first version featured alternating brown and beige squares with “Marque L. Vuitton déposée” branding to prevent counterfeiting, becoming Louis Vuitton’s first patented design.

The name “Damoflage” combines Damier + Camouflage, maintaining the check pattern foundation while adding military-inspired camo elements. American Atari game artists contributed to the pixelated design, creating a retro video game aesthetic.

The messenger bag dates back to the 1970s, originally used by postal workers to carry letters and tools. Characterized by flap closures and buckles with adjustable straps, its practical design made it the ultimate on-the-go bag.

The LV Trail bag features coated canvas with military-green calf leather trim. The canvas offers lightweight, water-resistant, and scratch-proof durability perfect for travel, while the leather trim reinforces edges with precise stitching.

The innovative quick-release buckles draw inspiration from LV’s classic trunks. Made from matte black metal and plastic, these playful “cat paw” clasps open with a simple press on both sides.

· Logo Tag & Detachable Strap ·

The green, beige, and gray-black color scheme gets a luxurious accent from black hardware and green leather. The removable leather tag features an LV logo in gold studs – a signature Pharrell touch adding dandy sophistication.

A nylon-and-leather top handle complements the detachable, adjustable strap in LV monogram jacquard nylon. The sliding buckle allows length adjustments for hand-carry, shoulder, or crossbody wear.

True to its messenger roots, the LV Trail offers generous storage with black fabric lining. The bottom nylon strap allows width adjustment, while the back zip pocket conveniently stores phones.

We comfortably fit a notebook, wallet, iPhone, pen case, perfume, lipstick, tissues, and keys with room to spare. The back pocket fits an iPad mini, making it ideal for work or weekends. Though designed for men, the bag works equally well for women with a tomboy style.
