This mini Puzzle bag is part of the LOEWE × Suna Fujita 2023 Holiday Collection. Crafted from bottle green satin calfskin, it features intricate leather marquetry depicting playful pandas and bamboo motifs – a perfect fusion of exquisite leather craftsmanship and Eastern aesthetics.

· Suna Fujita Ceramic Studio ·

For its 2023 holiday collection, LOEWE collaborated with Kyoto-based ceramic studio Suna Fujita, transforming the artist’s whimsical creatures and dreamy landscapes into luxurious bags and accessories.

Suna Fujita Studio was founded in 2005 by Japanese ceramic artists Shohei Fujita and Chisato Yamano. Located in the countryside near Kyoto, their work draws inspiration from nature, childhood memories, dreams, and life with their son and dog – like three-dimensional storybooks etched onto ceramic pieces.

“Ceramics endure. Even when broken into fragments, the patterns on their surfaces help us understand cultures and lifestyles, becoming media that carry stories of our lives. I hope the world we depict is a dreamy, nearly utopian place that brings people moments of peace.”

· Leather Marquetry ·

The bag’s bottle green backdrop showcases intricate panda 🐼 and bamboo 🎋 designs created through leather marquetry and hand-painting techniques.

LOEWE doesn’t simply print these patterns – each design is meticulously inlaid into the leather using leather marquetry, with hand-stitched edges creating remarkable three-dimensional effects.

The Puzzle bag was creative director Jonathan Anderson’s first handbag design for LOEWE, debuting in the 2015 Spring/Summer menswear show. Inspired by jigsaw puzzles, it reconstructs geometric leather pieces into three-dimensional forms.

“I tried to find a new way to make a bag, fundamentally breaking down its structure – deconstructing the traditional bag to create a flat object with three-dimensional functionality.”

True to its name, the Puzzle bag offers multiple carrying options – shoulder, crossbody, handheld, or clutch.

The bag comes with a short handle and adjustable, detachable leather strap for versatile styling.
