The J’ADIOR Bag

J’ADIOR was Maria Grazia Chiuri’s first handbag design as Dior’s creative director, debuting in the Spring/Summer 2017 collection. The name plays on the French word “j’adore” (“I adore”), modified with the brand name for a bold declaration of love.

The name also nods to Dior’s J’adore perfume (launched in 1999), celebrating female authenticity—a theme Chiuri expands through feminist designs while honoring the brand’s heritage.

Oceanic Embroidery

Reviving Dior’s 1960s craftsmanship, Chiuri blends thread and bead embroidery to depict a vibrant underwater world on the J’ADIOR bag.

“This season, I wanted to showcase the power of female craftsmanship. I spent two months researching how to merge lace, embroidery, and patchwork with design—even weaving wool to mimic leather.”

Delicate wool mimics ocean waves, while embroidery and beads create marine motifs—mermaids dancing among seaweed, seahorses weaving through coral. Geometric patterns on the sides add depth, making it perfect for a day at the aquarium.

The J’ADIOR Handle

A bronze metal “J’ADIOR” plaque is riveted onto a black leather handle with double stitching. The wide strap ensures a secure grip, while the bold lettering makes a statement of confident elegance.

How to Wear It

The bag features Dior’s signature elements, including a bronze chain engraved with “CD” for a luxe, vintage touch.

Adjust the chain for shoulder, handheld, or crossbody wear—perfect for both elegant and casual styles.

Handle with care—the delicate beading and embroidery can snag easily.

What Fits Inside?

A simple magnetic clasp reveals a black leather interior with smart compartments.

The front slim pocket (with a gold-stamped logo) fits a phone, while two card slots hold essentials like IDs or cards.

A flap pocket at the back securely stores valuables like rings or passports.

Fits: 1 iPhone, a sunglasses case, compact, perfume, and AirPods. Avoid overstuffing to maintain the bag’s shape.
