“In Japan, contemporary art is considered a very minor interest; but fashion is something every Japanese person is very, very interested in.”

This marks Louis Vuitton’s first collaboration with Murakami in 20 years. Their initial partnership in 2002, initiated by then-artistic director Marc Jacobs who was captivated by Murakami’s colorful “Superflat” style, revolutionized fashion-art collaborations and influenced mainstream culture throughout the early 2000s.

Under Murakami’s creative vision, Louis Vuitton’s classic Monogram was transformed into a kaleidoscope of colors – marking the first reinterpretation of the Monogram in history. These joyful hues reflected Murakami’s optimistic philosophy and helped define Y2K aesthetics, becoming iconic pieces of the era.

The new collection continues to feature the Monogram Multicolore pattern as its core design element, with digital printing technology rendering LV initials and floral motifs in 33 vibrant hues. Thanks to technological advancements and craftsmanship, each piece showcases upgraded printing with brighter colors and sharper precision.

The new Nano Speedy also features a redesigned bow-shaped key pouch charm, crafted from VVN natural calf leather with red hand-painted edges and exquisite hardware details. The sweet bow complements the petite bag perfectly, while its detachable design offers versatile styling options.

The interior features a special 20th anniversary collaboration leather tag, embossed with LOUIS VUITTON × MURAKAMI lettering and Murakami’s signature motifs including smiley flowers, Superflat pandas, cherries, and “Flower Hatman” characters, making each piece truly commemorative.

· The Speedy Bag ·
As for the bag itself, the Nano Speedy is the smallest member of the Speedy family, measuring just 16×10×7.5cm. Despite its palm-sized proportions, it retains all the signature Speedy features: the structured shape, zipper closure, and Toron handles, creating a playful yet elegant carry.

The Louis Vuitton Speedy travel bag was first created in 1930 by Gaston-Louis Vuitton, originally named the “Express” and inspired by the era’s fascination with speed and automobiles. Based on the Keepall travel bag but in a more compact, everyday-friendly size, it could be flattened and carried inside luggage.
In 1959, the Speedy was reintroduced in Monogram canvas, attracting celebrity fans like Audrey Hepburn. In 1965, Louis Vuitton created the even smaller Speedy 25 specifically for Hepburn’s petite frame. With its timeless design, practicality, and accessible price, the Speedy has remained one of Louis Vuitton’s most iconic and best-selling “it bags” for nearly a century.

The bag comes with a detachable, adjustable leather shoulder strap, offering multiple carrying options: handheld, shoulder, or crossbody. All hardware, including the zipper pull, is meticulously engraved with LV or Louis Vuitton logos, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship in every detail.

· What Fits Inside ·

Despite its mini size, the Nano Speedy can comfortably fit an iPhone Pro or similarly sized smartphone. The 7.5cm width easily accommodates thicker items like compact powder, a mirror, or tissues, making it perfect for light daily essentials. The collection includes nearly 200 pieces, allowing mothers to coordinate matching mother-child outfits for an adorable street style look.
