Balenciaga Winter ’24 Collection: The Bel Air Bag

The French fashion house introduces its bold new statement piece featuring cyberpunk-inspired design elements and innovative transformable silhouettes.

Balenciaga’s Winter 2024 collection unveils the striking Bel Air Bag, showcasing distinctive cyberpunk aesthetics through its front leather panel and oversized silhouette. The design features intentionally distressed square twist locks and leather straps, offering multiple styling options through clever folding mechanisms that blend functionality with avant-garde creativity.

Design Inspiration

The Bel Air Bag made its debut during Balenciaga’s Winter 2024 runway show, named after the prestigious Bel-Air neighborhood in Los Angeles, California – home to some of America’s most expensive estates and lush vegetation, where Hollywood celebrities and business magnates reside.

Transformable Design

The Bel Air Bag features a substantial three-dimensional silhouette with multiple functional elements that allow for versatile transformations. The front panel can be folded upward and secured with leather straps and square twist locks – creating a restrained, elegant look when closed and a bold, relaxed aesthetic when open.

Craftsmanship Details

Meticulously crafted from natural grained calf leather with a matte transparent coating and softened nappa lambskin lining, the bag develops a subtle patina over time. The back features embossed gold Balenciaga Paris branding.

The minimalist square twist lock and circular rings continue the signature design language of the Rodeo collection, each engraved with BALENCIAGA branding. The intentionally distressed hardware adds a vintage appeal, making each piece feel like a cherished heirloom.
