The CELINE Triomphe Chain Shoulder Bag
The TRIOMPHE collection introduces a new chain shoulder bag for Spring-Summer 2022, featuring the signature rectangular silhouette and Triomphe clasp, now enhanced with an elegant metal chain strap for summer sophistication.
Design Inspiration
The CELINE Triomphe bag was among the first creations by Creative Director Hedi Slimane after joining in 2018. Reviving the 1970s retro “Triomphe clasp” from CELINE’s early days, it maintains the Classic collection’s iconic flap design. The line has since expanded to include Box bags, East-West shoulder bags, Besace saddle bags, and Bucket bags, creating a complete “Triomphe universe”.

The Triomphe chain shoulder bag debuted in the SS22 runway show, maintaining the elongated East-West shape and short strap design for comfortable, unconventional underarm carrying.

The Triomphe Clasp
The polished Triomphe metal clasp is the bag’s most eye-catching element, resembling an exquisite浮雕 decoration with intricate details that invite closer inspection.
“Triomphe” means “triumph” in French, referencing the Arc de Triomphe. Both the name and design details revisit brand history.
In 1972, founder Céline Vipiana found inspiration in the chains surrounding the Arc de Triomphe when her car broke down nearby, leading to the creation of the interlocking C Chain Blason motif – the prototype for the Triomphe clasp.

The clasp features a spring mechanism – simply press both sides to reveal the delicate gold-stamped TRIOMPHE logo on the lining.
The Chain Strap
The metal chain strap is this bag’s most distinctive feature compared to previous Triomphe designs. The brass curb chain is polished and cut for comfortable wear. The 30cm non-adjustable length follows the underarm bag trend, creating a casual yet sophisticated summer look.
The bag is crafted from Pale Grey glossy calfskin with matching stitching and slightly darker edge paint, offering a refined, cool-toned summer aesthetic.

The structured flap design offers optimized capacity for its size, with a flat base that keeps contents organized and visible.
The lamb leather lining includes a flat interior pocket for phones or cards. We fit an iPhone, tissues, cardholder, AirPods, lipstick, keys, and perfume – all essentials for effortless daily outings.
Styling the Triomphe Chain Bag
The cool-toned palette and fluid chain strap perfectly balance streetwise edge with feminine charm. The compact size particularly flatters petite frames, sitting above the waistline to elongate the silhouette.
