Louis Vuitton 2026 Resort Women’s Show
The Louis Vuitton 2026 Resort Women’s Show recently concluded at the historic Palais des Papes (Papal Palace) in Avignon, France. This season’s collection draws inspiration from the theme of “Theatre”, with Women’s Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière finding muse in the palace’s Gothic architecture, fresco paintings, and medieval knight armor. Through sculptural three-dimensional tailoring, dreamy tapestry prints, and opulent detailing, the collection explores fashion’s performative qualities and narrative tension.
The show took place at the UNESCO World Heritage site Palais des Papes, completed in 1335 as one of Europe’s largest medieval Gothic buildings. Once home to seven Roman popes, it has hosted the Avignon Theatre Festival since 1947. The medieval fortress provided a dramatic backdrop for modern stage design, creating a timeless artistic dialogue.
Medieval Inspirations
The new bag collection draws from medieval manuscripts, frescoes, and knight costumes. The Speedy Trunk and Alma bags feature Baroque-style animal/plant motifs, tapestry prints, and studded inlays with gilded brilliance. A new single-handle Alma bag with chunky chain details brings contemporary edge to this classic silhouette.
The Camera Box and Speedy Trunk bags feature an intentionally aged metallic coating over the classic Monogram pattern, paired with black leather trim and metal corners reminiscent of Joan of Arc’s armor.
Exotic Leathers
The Petite Malle, Twist, and Side Trunk bags debut in crocodile, python, and ostrich leather, enhanced with ombré metallic finishes and stripe patterns for luxurious appeal.
Iconic Styles
The classic Monogram canvas collection introduces new clutches with cloud-like silhouettes and S-Lock closures. The CarryAll offers a spacious hobo shape with multiple carrying options, while the Express bag combines light blue Epi leather with Monogram Reverse canvas trim. The Side Trunk features minimalist color-blocking with trompe l’oeil leatherwork.
Wooden Trunks
Three new wooden trunks created in collaboration with French woodcarver Thomas Rogers reinterpret medieval themes through traditional toolbox structures with leather or Monogram canvas handles, paying homage to the brand’s heritage in trunk-making.
